Climb For Kids

Thank you! People like you have already donated a total of $31,825!

Climb For Kids is a non-profit organization that was established in late 2007 whose primary goal is to raise money for fetal syndrome research. We are following a special avenue in fund raising where the mission is to have fun, challenge yourself, and raise awareness for syndromes that are effecting more and more kids each year. Twice as many babies die from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and other fetal syndromes than from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) each year; yet more people are aware of SIDS.

The philosophy of Climb For Kids is to support other organizations which:

  • Raise awareness of fetal syndromes such as TTTS
  • Raise money for fetal syndrome research
  • Help other parents who can not afford treatment
  • Build a community of people and parents who want to help

Being located in the northwest, it is also clear that many of us also share the love of the mountains. What better way to reach these goals then doing what we all already enjoy? By melding together climbing and community, we can raise money and promote awareness at the same time.

Climbing

Starting in the summer of 2008, Climb For Kids (CFK) hopes to raise $100,000 annually by hosting at least one climbing event during the summer. Each year, participants will be encouraged to raise $5,000 or more for a summit attempt of a large peak, preferably in the northwest. This year, Climb For Kids will be partnering with Alpine Ascents to host a climb up the spectacular 14,410 foot Mt. Rainier.

Funds

After all climbing expenses have been covered, the remaining funds will be allocated to various fetal syndrome charities such as Fetal Hope. There will be no direct donations to parents, researchers, nor hospitals in 2008. However, as Climb For Kids grows, we will be exploring ways that we can directly help others in need.
