Eiger (2010)

August 08, 2010

Difficulty level: advanced
This event was held in the past.

Join famed climber and accomplished guide, Zoe Hart as she leads a small team of accomplished climbers up Monte Rosa and the legendary Eiger.

We will be climbing Monte Rosa and other easy acclimization routes in Zermatt, Switzerland. Monte Rosa is the second tallest mountain in Western Europe. After a nice 2 day climb, we will head over to Lauterbrunen to attempt a southern route up the Eiger. The southern route is much more approachable then the deadly northern route.

We will be staying in alpine huts while climbing. This is an advanced climb that will require some rock climbing skills as well as advanced mountaineering skills. Climbers who wish to participate must be able to demonstrate previous climbing experience.

My background is in Maternal-Fetal-Medicine; a branch of obstetrics which deals with complicated pregnancies - ill mothers and babies. It's been rewarding in uncountable ways. With the help of friends, including Matt Kowalczyk (the founder of Climbforkids - who I met while assisting in the care of his children ), I've been learning to love mountaineering - and it seems, I have an attraction to go higher each time... My hope is to inspire others to learn more about some of the complex problems affecting our children (including twin-twin transfusion syndrome) and to offer their time, and monetary support, in assistance.
